Wednesdays are my favorite! On these days, the actor’s workshop comes alive with actors eager to learn, grow, and refine their craft. It gives me the opportunity to celebrate their unique talents and witness their growth as their confidence and skills flourish.
I have had people from all around the globe sit in my classroom. I have seen people who barely knew the basics of acting become so adept that they book roles. I have marveled at the person who entered our classroom with low self-esteem only to blossom and demonstrate amazing levels of confidence a short while later! And, I have had the pleasure of watching experienced actors hone their skills and continue to amaze me on screen and on-stage.
Our classroom is a safe place. One can attend classes at any skill level and feel welcome. In class the student will learn about the basics of acting, auditioning, script analysis, how to reduce anxiety/nerves, and other important aspects of “the acting biz”.
The students don’t compete with each other. Instead they champion their fellow classmates’ successes and support them when the going gets tough.
As for me, I am their teacher, their mentor, and their biggest cheerleader. During class, I share my “pearls of wisdom” from decades worth of acting, directing, and script writing experience. Also, as a former social worker and psychotherapist, I know how to listen and address the needs of each student. Trust me when I say that I learn from these amazing students as much as I teach them.
Meet Matt Duran. He is a current student of mine and offered this insight when asked by my assistant what he has been learning in my workshop?
If you have thought of checking out an acting class or find a place where you can build your confidence – let’s chat! Just let me know what you need! Auditioning techniques? A script analysis consultation? Interview practice?
The process to come to my workshop is easy. First, let me know you are interested by sending me a direct email here. I usually respond within 24 hours. The next step will be us talking to see if your goals and my acting workshop are a good match. I also will explain the details of location, time commitment, and fees. The first in-person class is free. Keep in mind that I also offer online consultations via Zoom. To learn more about this option, email me.
I’ll end this post with a quote from the great Lee Strasberg:
“The ability to relax becomes the first thing that the actor learns. And, in the relaxation, we often see the possibilities of the human being before we see his acting.”
